The holiday season certainly serves as a boost for the economy. The aerospace and aviation industry is no exception. As people head to the airports for the long Thanksgiving weekend, they can expect to experience full flights according to the Air Transport Association. Meanwhile, at the 2011 Dubai Air Show that wrapped up on November 17, records were set for attendance and—more importantly—orders. Media outlets are reporting $63.6 billion in orders made during the event, including a record-setting $18 billion order by Emirates Airlines. The success of the Air Show translates into boosts for Boeing and Airbus. In turn, new orders will positively impact the already busy Spirit AeroSystems' Kinston plant.
